Ancient Capital Ruin Yinxu 殷墟遺址

At the beginning of the 14th century B.C.E. Shang Dynasty established its capital on the banks of the Huan River 洹河, known as Yin, which served 255 years for 12 kings in 8 generations. It is one of the oldest and largest archeological sites of Chinese historical capitals that provided hard evidences compared to historic writings. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the city of Anyang of Henan province and is famous as the original source of oracle bones and oracle bone script, the earliest recorded form of Chinese writing. 殷墟是中國商代晚期的都城遺址，年代約為公元前14世紀末至前11世紀中葉，位於河南安陽市西北殷都區的小屯村，橫跨洹河兩岸。20世紀初，因盜掘甲骨而發現，1928年正式開始考古發掘。殷墟是中國歷史上第一個文獻可考、並為考古學和甲骨文所證實的都城遺址。
