Traveling 28 days in China, half of our tours were DIY (do it yourself); whereas in our guided tour in Yunnan, half of our time was in shopping paradise instead. DIY tours make sense because construction for better facilities is everywhere in China that includes building fast trains between big cities.
Below shows long distance 40 hour+ sleep train from 滿洲里(Manchuria) to 呼和浩特( Hohhot, Inner Mongolia). It takes 6 1/2 hours from Beijing to Datong, however, the fast train 動車, which I never heard it before, took only 3 hours from Taiyun to Beijing. Another way to see 晉北 city is in a 3-wheeler. Entering "入" 關內.
On the trip from Shenzhen to Xinyi (see below post Beautiful City of Xinyi 信宜), We got to sleep in a long distance bus and read a book 幸福之路 when the bus hostess is reading it (4th picture). The best way to see the scenery is on a motorcycle with a good driver.
We went to Shenzhen, Xinyi,Wuyishan, Macau, Lijiang, Shangri-La, Dali, Kunming, Shanxi, Datong, Taiyuan, Pingyao and Beijing 深圳，信宜，武夷山，澳門，麗江，香格里拉，大理，昆明，山西，大同，太原, 平遙, 北京.
Below posts show some of the places which includes world heritage sites: 雲崗石窟(Yungang Grotto), 平遙古城(Pingyao Ancient City), 麗江古鎮(Lijing Old Town), 雲南石林(Yunnan Shilin), 福建武夷山(Fujian Wuyishan), and 長城-慕田峪(Great Wall-Mutianyu).
